The student has to complete four (4) subjects to complete the course. Successful completion of the PG Certificate in Law will entitle you to transfer your credits onto the Veritas Master Programmes*.

The purpose of this practice-based subject is to advance on a learner’s knowledge towards specialised and integrated understandings about Intellectual Property Practice in Malaysian contexts.

Topics include :

• Intellectual property framework in Malaysian contexts
• Advanced issues in copyright practice in Malaysia
• Advanced issues in trade mark practice in Malaysia
• Advanced issues in industrial designs practice in Malaysian contexts
• Advanced issues in geographical indications practice in Malaysian contexts

Commercial Contracts Practice (Malaysia)

This practice-based subject advances on a learner’s foundational knowledge towards specialised and integrated understandings about commercial contracts practice.

Upon satisfactory completion of this subject, the learner will understand fundamental concepts and practices in commercial contracts practice and have a synoptic understanding of how to develop and apply this knowledge in professional practice. The learner will be able to use and explain this knowledge to specialist and non-specialist audiences. Using practice-based analytical and critical thinking skills, the learner will be able to apply this knowledge to problem-solving and decision-making in practice. This subject also provides the foundations to develop reflective approaches to objective and subjective analyses of individual and social dimensions of applied law and professional practice in commercial contracts practice in a range of contexts.

The ability to draft effective, readable, non-ambiguous contracts is an essential and valuable skill for every commercial lawyer. This practice-based subject advances on the key knowledge and skill required by all lawyers when negotiating and drafting commercial contracts.

• Avenues to M&A transactions in Malaysia
• Advanced due diligence issues in Malaysian M&A practice
• Design and development of M&A transactions in Malaysia
• Laws, regulation and governance in Malaysian M&A practice, and post-deal considerations in Malaysian M&A practice.

Learning Objectives :

• Demonstrate advanced and integrated understandings of Malaysian M&A legal professional practice
• Apply these understandings to problem-solving and decision-making in practice
• Apply these understandings to critically analyse and evaluate the learner’s own professional practice, toward accountability and improvement

• Develop steps in a due diligence plan and verify insights arising from the due diligence process in special situations
