Here's the BIG Picture

If you have already completed the BAC College Diploma in Law (DIL) and Advanced Diploma in Law (ADIL), this is your direct pathway to a UK Bachelor of Laws — without leaving Singapore and without starting over.

The University of Hertfordshire recognises the DIL and ADIL as equivalent to Years 1 and 2 of its LLB programme. That means you only need to complete one final year of study to earn a full, internationally recognised Qualifying Law Degree (QLD) — the same degree that opens the door to the Bar, the SQE, and a legal career in the UK and beyond.

This programme is delivered through BAC College Singapore under the Supported Distance Learning (SDL) model. You study from the comfort of your home, attend live classes online, and graduate with a degree from the University of Hertfordshire — a UK public university ranked 56th for Law in the Complete University Guide 2026.

*Terms and conditions apply. Kindly contact our BAC counsellors for more information.

COURSE MODULES

Semester 1

The Law of Equity & Trusts  [Core]

This module covers the historical development of equitable principles and their role in the modern legal system. You will study the creation and administration of trusts, fiduciary duties, and equitable remedies, and develop a deep understanding of how equity and common law interact to resolve disputes involving property and obligations.

Employment Law  [Elective]

This module gives you a thorough grounding in the legal framework that governs the relationship between employers and employees. You will examine statutory and common law rights and obligations, explore the legal tests for employment status, and evaluate the remedies available in cases of unfair dismissal, wrongful dismissal, and workplace discrimination.

Intellectual Property Law  [Elective]

Intellectual property law protects the creations of the mind — from inventions and literary works to brand names and trade secrets. This module introduces you to the core legal regimes governing copyright, patents, trademarks, and design rights, and examines how the law balances the rights of creators against the broader public interest, particularly in an era of rapid technological change.

The General Principles of EU Law  [Elective]

This module examines the legal foundations, institutions, and key doctrines of European Union law. You will study the sources of EU law, the principles of supremacy and direct effect, the role of subsidiarity, and the jurisprudence of the Court of Justice of the European Union in shaping the legal order of the EU and its relationship with member states.

Semester 2

The Law of Equity & Trusts (continued)  [Core]

Building on Semester 1, this module takes a deeper and more applied approach to the law of trusts and equitable principles. You will engage with complex case scenarios, examine contested areas of trust law, and develop the analytical skills needed for written assessment at degree level.

Employment Law (continued)  [Elective]

This module continues from Semester 1 with a focus on collective labour relations, tribunal procedure, and emerging issues in employment law. You will examine collective bargaining, trade union rights, and the practical application of employment law principles to real-world workplace disputes.

Copyright and Artificial Intelligence  [Elective]

One of the most exciting and rapidly evolving areas of law today. This module examines the legal challenges that arise when AI systems generate creative content — who owns it, how existing copyright frameworks apply, and how courts and legislatures around the world are responding. You will critically evaluate proposals for legal reform and consider the future of authorship and intellectual ownership in the age of AI.

Miscarriages of Justice  [Elective]

This module investigates how and why the justice system sometimes fails — and what happens when it does. You will examine the causes of wrongful convictions, including flawed evidence, unreliable witness testimony, and systemic failures, and study the legal mechanisms available for review and appeal. The module also considers the role of forensic science, media scrutiny, and advocacy organisations in bringing miscarriages of justice to light.
